Holiday tribes. Big celebrations. Too much cake. Too much vino.
Good. Good. And Good. So far.
Too much friends and family? OK, maybe…sometimes. But a celebration is meant to be shared. With our tribes. All celebrations are tribal.
My new Tribal Wrap Bracelets are all wrapped up with little talismans that include vintage items and beads that have unusual stamps and carvings.
The African beads have their roots in a society that values jewelry as a form of tribal identity. The “soul” of jewelry is the stories that make it more than just adornment. The first story of these beads is their journey from the hands of the one who made them to the wrists of the one who wears and appreciates them.
My jewelry is a mixture of earthy and elegant elements. Think rich hippie. African Trade beads with freshwater pearls. Pearls are associated with purity, goodness and tradition. Mixing them with tribal beads makes them less prim and more accessible; not so precious that they can’t be worn everyday.
