“The first thing I really wanted to do was to design shoes for showgirls, because at the end of the day, you know, a showgirl is…is like a bird of paradise. It’s a woman, but it’s a representation of a bird, basically.” -Christian Louboutin
In this short video Christian Louboutin explains that an internship at the Folies Bergère, set in motion his life’s mission. At this stage in his game he goes as far as acknowledging that shoes (his in particular) are as addictive as any drug. He won’t identify his famous clients because doing so would be immoral in the same way it would for a doctor to publicly discuss his patients. So gallant!
